Where The Journey Started
Going out out for track in 1971, success was not in the cards. Starting the season as a slow, chubby kid, the 1 mile was the only option. Graduated with a PR of a wholly unspectacular 5:25. Still, running was in the cards for the developing "track rat".
Emotional Challenges...That Helped
In an era of high mileage, this was the only way a no-talent runner could compete. Looking back, the motiviation to do so wasn't so healthy. With low self-esteem due to massive insecurity, the drive to be better was driven soley by the need to be accepted. So "pack on the miles." Success started to come slowly even though the motivation was not a healthy one.
Creating Fitness with a non-fit DNA
Over time, the body fat pctg dropped along with the race times as the weekly mileage grew, often topping out at 100. The study to decrease body fat without sacrifing energy was constant and drove the nutrition choices.
Then Everything Changed
Injuries that ultimately led to two titanium knees gave way to obesity, with body weight on the 6' 2" frame going from 160 at peak fitness to over 235. With no race to prepare for, the drive to stay fit disappeared. Sad, no?
The Spiritual Journey
With a strong sense of Christian focus early on in life, this also waned during the '90s and beyond. Returning to this (his wife bought him a Bible for Father's Day in 2018), this return to faith has been instrumental in overcoming the insecurity by focusing on an "Audience of One." Being healthy and fit for the right reason was now possible. The relief was unexplainable.
The Road Back
Finally having enough, the development of eTRaXC began. The goal: to use the knowledge of fitness and nutrition gleaned during the days of competition to live a healthier and happier life using a natural approach. No GLP-1s, no surgery.
A Cancer Detour
Needing hormone therapy to help fight Prostate Cancer, there was a two year set-back where no progress was made. With no available testosterone, muscle mass diminished along with metabolic rate. Weight reached close to 240 pounds.
Now We're Cooking
Thanks to the development of "The eTRaXC Way", including software to support it, body weight is near 200 lbs and dropping steadily with no real "pain" and no end in sight. Just an adjusted lifestyle built to fit the end user that can be tweaked as needed over time.
